Stormers 19 - KC Knights 3

24 Apr 2016 by Steve Drew

Stormers vs KC Knights.

The game started with an unorthodox idea for everyone to change in a counterclockwise fashion, meaning every player would eventually play a shift in each position on the ice. A great idea and good time to try something new. However three to four shifts in and the Stormers had taken a few penalties for slow changes and bench issues which got the team off to a rocky start. Despite the confusion we managed to get a headway with a few goals netted before the buzzer for intermission. We won’t mention Lewis and Ian’s little blunder with the puck which conceded an unusual opener for the Knights.

After clearing the air and reverting back to a more standard line based set up on the bench we came out in the second and extended our lead to a considerable margin. The Stormers were making the most of good passing plays which kept the scorers busy.

The Knights, not to be disheartened, came out with a bang in the third and caught a lot of us off guard with some great forechecking and an early goal. Still we battled on and despite a few penalties back and forth for some rough treatment provided by both teams we kept the pressure on ending the game 19-3.

Thanks to the KC Knights for a great game and I think everyone is now really looking forward to the return visit next week in Hull which sees the Stormers debut in the Summer Classic Cup.

Thanks also to the fans, and as always the swags and timekeepers.

Now let’s go win us a cup.
